Bio

Justin K. Rivers is a writer and puppeteer based in Schenectady, NY. He is one half of the songwriting team Morris & Rivers and a co-founder of Electric City Puppets.

You can hear his songs, written in collaboration with Lecco Morris, on We the Nighthawks (2021) featuring vocalist Kimberly Hawkey and the holiday album A New Noel with Kimberly Hawkey and Broadway star Adam Pascal. Both albums were produced by seven-time Grammy winner Joel Moss. In 2023, Morris & Rivers released Home, a cycle of songs about life in the Mohawk River Valley in collaboration with Alice Sorensen and Dylan Perrillo, and in 2025 released Spirits, a collection of jazz songs featuring the vocals of Girl Blue, Buggy Jive, Belle-Skinner and Nicholas Manzella, backed by the Dylan Perrillo Quartet. 

Other works include "A Forgotten River Called the Nickel Vly," published by the Workforce Development Institute, in the anthology Creative Lives, "That time I was put in charge of a polling location at the last minute" in All Over Albany, and "Her Strawberry Ghost" in Boink Magazine. In 2025, his horror short story "His Village" was published in the anthology Catskill Chaos. He is currently working on an oral history documentary project about Lexington Conservatory Theatre.

His first solo album is The Sere Street (2009) followed by The Dry Frontier (2010). He produced a spoken word collection, The Magic Door (2006) with Nathan von Krieg. His latest solo album Kitty in the City was released in August 2021.
